End-edge-cloud networks, which integrates local computing, edge computingEdge computing, and cloud computingCloud computing, can leverage distributed resources to effectively satisfy the diversified service requirements. Since there are different forms of resources in end-edge-cloud networksEnd-edge-cloud network, the adaptation between diversified service requirements and the heterogeneous resources needs to be considered. To help readers better comprehend the motivation of applying different resource scheduling technologies into end-edge-cloud networks, a comprehensive overview of current end-edge-cloud networks is presented in this chapter. Then, the communication and computing challenges in end-edge-cloud networks are reviewed, respectively, focusing on co-transmission of traffic, reliability guarantee, and efficient resource utilization. Moreover, we introduce the key research issues studied in this book. Finally, the overview of the book is presented.
