According to Karl Marx (1818–1883), the whole capitalist system is flawed, engaging in worker class exploitation, corruption, monopolization, and other predatory behaviors. Some ethicists are intrinsically wary of private healthcare organizations, and with a mindframe reminiscent of early Marxists, defend wholesale condemnation of all commercial systems and companies. This is obviously a one-sided view that should be replaced by responsible analysis, taking in account their potentially positive contributions to individuals and society. Within such responsibility, one should highlight the ethical standards of each organization, because they are dealing with human health and life, not with consumer products. In this chapter six priorities are highlighted including practical and ongoing examples, from artificial intelligence to substandard hospital care, and from genetic tests to fad diets, aiming to expose both the weaknesses and the remedies for eventual failures and misdeeds.

摘要
