AI-Supported Corporate Content Production in the Newsroom: Insights from Literature and Practice

This chapter investigates how artificial intelligence (AI) transforms corporate content production, with a focus on its integration into topic-based newsroom structures. Drawing on academic research and industry discourse, it develops a comprehensive framework for an AI-supported communication process, structured along the phases of communication management. The framework is then applied to a leading European IT service provider that has operated a corporate newsroom for over a decade. Based on qualitative interviews and workflow analyses, the study assesses current AI use and implementation priorities. The findings reveal that AI holds substantial potential to increase efficiency, creativity, and personalization—especially in content creation and workflow automation—while also highlighting structural and cultural challenges. This chapter provides a strategic blueprint for AI adoption in corporate communication and offers a prioritization logic for implementation. It contributes to both research and practice by outlining a process-oriented roadmap for AI integration.
