Serving as a Reviewer, Associate Editor, or Journal Editor in Chief
摘要
Like in medicine in general, LHS+ voices are underrepresented in publishing in the medical literature. While many articles include LHS+ patients as research subjects, relatively few LHS+ physicians serve as editor in chief, associate editor, or reviewer roles. A recent survey of reviewers for Family Medicine reveals that less than 5% of the reviewers identify as LHS+. In this chapter, we will talk about serving in these roles, with the perspectives of three editors—Dr. Ana Nuñez, Founding Editor in Chief, Health Equity; Dr. José Rodríguez, Associate Editor, Annals of Family Medicine; and Dr. David Sklar, former Editor in Chief, Academic Medicine, the leading journal in medical education.
