Lecturing is an important didactic teaching method targeting a large group of students. Communication transfer happens in multiple ways in a lecture. With increasing use of technology, the visual element of communication is assuming great importance in a lecture. There are obvious disadvantages in this very popular teaching-learning method, but the advantages overweigh them. The new interactive learning approaches like spaced learning methods and flipped classrooms are making lectures highly relevant in the present times. Among the various lecturing styles, the authoritarian style is the preferred one. This narration attempts to review the new developments in this quintessential instructional method in some detail.
