The Negative Force Behind the Practice of Using Silicone Injections: Perspectives from Indonesia

The practice of silicone injection still exists globally, as well as in Indonesia, as an iceberg phenomenon, despite being illegal and unethical. There are also various reasons for people consenting to receive silicone injections, mainly psychological and socioeconomic motivations, which cause practices of silicone injection to still flourish despite potentially fatal complications. This chapter focuses on silicone injection practices in Indonesia, psychological and socioeconomic problems related to siliconoma and an insight on siliconoma within transgender community.
