Cybersecurity Related to IP and Protection of Enterprise Value
摘要
As this chapter will discuss, employees often overlook the value of IP, which is, at its core, the organization’s most strategic asset. Educating employees on what patents and trade secrets are can help the organization better understand the importance of maintaining IP security. And with growing threats like cyberattacks, ransomware, and malicious actors, as well as internal risks like employee data theft, it is critical that organizations not only raise awareness around IP protection but also leverage technologies like predictive AI to safeguard IP. Further, as will be presented, board-level involvement and internal accountability are key to building an IP protection plan and executing the plan. Emphasizing that point, the reader will learn about organizational change management (OCM) and how using it will lead to effective IP protection. Specifically, this chapter will demonstrate how OCM tools help organizations stimulate the desire for employees to protect IP as well as ensure that employees have the skills to secure IP. Reinforcement through communication, training, and real-world examples is essential to making IP protection sustainable. It will be shown that IP protection is not a one-time initiative; it is a long-term commitment that requires constant vigilance, cultural alignment, and an agile mindset to adapt as new and more sophisticated cybersecurity threats emerge.
