The role of public-private partnerships in climate change mitigation and carbon neutrality strategies is gaining attention. Based on this, this study explores the impact of public-private investment in energy (PPIE) on CO2 emissions in 13 countries. This paper considers the annual panel data from 1999 to 2021 for benchmark regression analysis. The main conclusions are as follows: (1) PPIE significantly reduces carbon emissions. (2) As control variables, economic growth (GDP), total population (TP) and industrial value added (IND) are significantly positively correlated with carbon emissions. (3) PPIE mitigates carbon emissions by increasing renewable energy consumption (REC) and reducing energy use (EU). This paper suggests that the government should encourage, support and direct the private sector toward energy investment participation, especially renewable energy investment, to establish a good green public-private partnership and promote the steady progress of the carbon neutrality strategy.

摘要
