Influence of Peer Pressure on Emotional and Social Intelligence of Adults
摘要
Social intelligence describes the capacity to understand, read, and manage successfully in various social situations. It encompasses identification of social cues, awareness of other people's emotions, and adept handling of interpersonal relationships. Peer pressure, on the other hand, comprises both overt and covert pressure exerted by peers—people usually having common tastes, status, or backgrounds—who influence an individual's beliefs, attitudes, and actions. Emotional intelligence involves the capacity for emotional recognition, understanding, and management of one's own emotions, along with being empathetic and attuned to the emotions of others. This research seeks to determine how peer pressure influences adults’ social and emotional intelligence. Demographic factors like age, gender, and participant initials are also taken into account. The survey was only open to those between 18 and 25 years of age. Peer pressure was assessed on a scale constructed by Sunil Saini and Sandeep Singh, social intelligence was assessed on tests by Frankovsky and Birknerova, and emotional intelligence was measured on a scale designed by Schutte and colleagues.
