“Female Students Perspectives on Women’s Universities in Algeria: An Exploratory Study”
摘要
The exploratory research examines the attitude of female students at Djilali Liabes University in Algeria regarding the possibility of establishing women's universities in Algeria. The research aims to determine if it is possible for such universities to provide a better learning experience in the form of comfort, leadership opportunities, academic mentorship, and career readiness. A mixed-method approach was used, and the information was gathered using an online survey comprising 13 close-ended and 8 open-ended questions. The survey was completed by 380 female students from different academic disciplines and study levels. The findings painted a complex portrait of Algerian coeducation: though the majority of students described themselves as relatively at ease in coeducational environments, many felt that women's universities might be a more empowering and less dangerous place to learn. Over half of the students surveyed suggested that a women's university might provide more mentorship, more leadership opportunities, and better career preparation. However, there were also concerns about restricted social diversity and professional networking.
