ThisDecision Support Systems (DDS) chapter describes how to provide assessment of alternatives in a knowledge-based approach. That is, we describe decision-support systems. We explain the main characteristics and components of these systems that are based on knowledge elicited from experts and policy makers. The chapter includes examples showing how decision support systems can be used in prioritising and ranking as e.g., ranking patients for interventions.
