Nowadays, the words artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are used everywhere. New software products, tools, and web sites use, or say to use, AI. Some applications are very modest on this AI use. Some do not use AI at all, but just standard computer science methods. Digitalization and automation are other words used in the same contexts. In this chapter we discuss digitalization and introduce artificial intelligence. We establish the main differences between digitalization, automation, machine learning, data-driven models, and artificial intelligence.
