This chapter focuses on data sonification, another widely used modality to interact with and extract information from data visualizations. In particular, the chapter presents four research works and two commercial products to discuss sonification’s use in research and practice, respectively. Furthermore, research on assessing the experiences of screen-reader users with data sonification is highlighted to illuminate the use cases in which sonification offers the most value in interpreting data from visualizations. Additionally, the chapter includes mini-exercises at the end of each section and three comprehensive exercises at the end to assist readers in creating and assessing sonification for data visualization accessibility.
