This chapter provides a detailed, chronological account of the restoration of al-Jāmiʿ al-Anwar from 1978 to 1980. Drawing on archival documents and participant interviews, it reconstructs the project through four stages: cleaning, planning, excavation, and reconstruction. The sources reveal how restoration decisions were guided by Islamic values and ritual requirements rather than conventional conservation methods. The process mobilized a large volunteer network through devotional appeals and demonstrated how religious frameworks directly shaped the practical execution of the project.
