Long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) has become increasingly popular among patients of reproductive age. The intrauterine device (IUD) offers patients a contraception that does not require daily attention, is easily placed, and provides safe and effective birth control. There are both hormonal and nonhormonal forms of intrauterine devices, with the copper IUD being a nonhormonal form that allows for 10 years of continuous contraception.
