The article is part of the research lines of DICAAR of Cagliari in the field of the regeneration of historical centres and the refurbishment of Industrial Architecture, and this case represents a point of convergence between two different research threads on the construction history and building techniques. The historical centre of Quartu Sant’Elena is one of the largest clay historical centres in the Mediterranean basin, which preserves an episode of industrial archaeology, the Capra distilleries, on which the University and the municipality plan to follow up on an integrated project to reuse the establishment as a research centre for technological innovation. The objective of the research is to define methods and techniques for the refurbishment of a complex factory of industrial archaeology in the historic centre by ensuring mixed uses. The building was constructed at the beginning of the 20th century as the headquarters of the distilleries of one of the most important Sardinian wine-producing consortia. It is configured as the result of a process of typological and construction hybridisation with the local tradition: a system of single-nave buildings articulated around a production courtyard, built with adobe bricks and covered with wooden carpentry. The restoration of an urban role is achieved through a typological inversion of the courtyard layout, which becomes a new public space for the historic centre, and through a system of structural integration by reinterpreting the continuous historic masonry architecture with CLT wood wall technology. The project therefore focuses on two central themes in the rehabilitation of the historic centre: the morpho-typological character and the building techniques, experimenting innovative approaches to the topic of refurbishment.

摘要
