Conclusions and Future Directions

This chapter discusses the changing nature of crime and the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in this evolution. It highlights the increasing prevalence of cybercrime and the potential for AI to both aid and combat criminal activity. It explores the international experiences in using AI in the criminal justice system, as well as the broader societal implications of AI, including concerns around transparency, responsibility, and moral complacency. The chapter also proposes some solutions to ensure meaningful human control, transparency, and fairness in the design and deployment of AI systems.
