Determination of the Air Flow Swirling Degree

This paper presents analytical method of the air streams swirling degree determination. For this purpose, it is proposed to consider the rotor of the velocity vector of the swirled air flow. The obtained empirical dependences are intended to determine the equation of the velocity vector field of the swirled air flow. The purpose of the study is to determine the tangential component of the velocity vector of a swirled air jet and the angle of deviation of the direction of its axis of development, as well as to create a mathematical model that determines the characteristics of swirled air jets depending on various initial and boundary conditions in public and industrial premises. Empirical dependencies are obtained on the basis of the results of experimental studies. The parameters of the swirled air jet in relation to the different degrees of its swirling, as well as the ratio of the axial and tangential components of the velocity vector under the condition of their leakage in compressed room conditions, have been specified. The influence of the swirling degree on the velocity attenuation coefficient of the swirled air jet, which determines the axial velocity of the air flow, and on the long-range of the air jet, is substantiated.
