Airflow Redistribution of Displacement Ventilated Indoor Environments for Multi-airflow Patterns Ventilation
摘要
In indoor environments, airflow patterns significantly impact occupants’ thermal experience, inhaled air quality, and building energy consumption. Enriching indoor airflow patterns has the potential to provide occupants with better thermal comfort and air quality while reducing energy consumption. Existing ventilation technologies provide single and constant airflow patterns. This study tests the feasibility of providing multi-airflow patterns in displacement-ventilated indoor environments with an air treatment device. The experiment is conducted in a full-scale chamber. An air purifier is employed to redistribute the displacement ventilated airflow pattern, which delivers the fresh air supplied by the vent of a displacement ventilation system to the breathing zone. By controlling the air purifier, the indoor airflow patterns can be switched between stratum ventilation and displacement ventilation. A simulation validated by experiment is performed to examine the airflow patterns and indoor air quality. The results show that the redistributed airflow has an airflow pattern consistent with stratum ventilation. The redistributed airflow patterns maintain better indoor air quality, which is close to that provided under stratum ventilation.
