The following work describes the continuity of ancestral practices based on local knowledge of two people with disabilities who belong to a Mapuche-Williche community in the San Juan de la Costa, southern Chile commune. Between 2021 and 2024, fieldwork involved interviews, ethnographic observations, and audiovisual recordings that allowed them to recognize their stories. The results described show the territorial disadvantages and inequalities experienced by Danilo and Isaura when they acquired disabilities, having to travel great distances to access rehabilitation services, producing processes of uprooting from their territory of life. However, in their roles as Lawentuchefe, Kimche, and artisan, they continue to develop activities based on their relationship with the resources of their territory and reproducing practices, traditions, and knowledge specific to their Mapuche-Williche identity.
