摘要

An adequate supply of safe drinking water is one of the major prerequisites for a healthy life and a basic requirement for survival. In the present scenario, the water in rivers and lakes is polluted from different anthropogenic sources (i.e., discharge of industrial effluent, domestic waste, etc.) Pollutants discharged from various industries pose a threat to the surrounding environment. Large quantities of water are utilized and produced a huge volume of wastewater at different steps during the product process in the industries. Despite that the water supplied to the household works is found to contain toxic contaminants hence there is a need to develop technologies for the removal of organic, inorganic, and microbes. To overcome such issues, it’s requisite to focus on eco-friendly and cost-effective advanced technological research based on biological resources for the purification of contaminated water. Various available physicochemical methods for industrial wastewater remediation generally lead to secondary pollutants and have proven costly. Due to the very high load of pollutants in the environment, bioremediation technology alone is not sufficient. Nanobiotechnology as an advanced technology has the potential to enhance the remediation process. Nanobiotechnology includes the use of nanoparticles to improve traditional biotechnological methods and overcome their limitations. Nano-based bio techniques play a key role in environmental and economic sustainability due to their wide range of applications in various industries. Merging nanotechnology with biotechnological methods facilitates to design of less time-consuming, more economical, and more efficient techniques. Biologically synthesized nanoparticles provide a wide range of environmentally acceptable methodologies, rapid, cost-effective, and eco-friendly, and also show novelty for various applications. Nanobiotechnological approaches are the advanced technological solution for industrial wastewater treatment for securing and managing access to clean water. The present paper will highlight bio-synthesized nanoparticles for industrial wastewater treatment to achieve environmental and economic sustainability.
