Freeing of spaces for the other and building salutary habitations concerns architects and their craft (métier) of letting-be. This paper probes into what having place (avoir lieu) and building means, what nature (φύσις/physis) means, and how “architicts” can bring forth another form or ethos of architecture with sensibility and knowledge beyond the horizon of the possible. The return (Wiederholung) to the sites of modern architectural landscape gardens, Versailles and the Rock Garden at Ryōanji, highlights an exposition of nature in a cross-cultural perspective.
