This contribution examines the reflections on architecture by phenomenologists Roman Ingarden (1893–1970) and Dietrich von Hildebrand (1889–1977). Both thinkers analyze architecture not only in its ontological foundations but also in its ethical dimension. Their philosophies, grounded in ontology, explore the building as an artifact that embodies values of beauty and, through this, fosters the human journey toward goodness. After outlining the fundamental principles shared by both philosophers, the second section of the paper examines von Hildebrand’s reflections on the relationship between human beings and their environment, while the final section investigates the unexplored ecological potential of Ingarden’s theory of relatively isolated systems.
