Community-Based Alternate Police Delivery Models to Reduce Violence and Crime
摘要
Over the last few decades, a proactive, enforcement-oriented policing approach has consistently led to dramatic and impressive reductions in violence and serious crime. However, some communities, particularly those in minority neighbourhoods, have complained that the increase in police-suspect contacts and arrests can be viewed as being racially discriminatory. There are numerous community-based models that can improve police service delivery and positively impact crime and violence. These alternatives will be discussed and evaluated in detail throughout this chapter.
