Generative AI in Travel Services: Why Some Users Embrace It and Others Don’t
摘要
This research focuses on the function of generative AI (GenAI), particularly ChatGPT, in enhancing travel planning as inspected through the Task-Technology Fit (TTF) framework. In the world of travel, GenAI assists mainly by its strengths: automation, content customization, and multilingualism. Conversely, outdated data, privacy concerns, and accuracy limitations hinder its acceptance as a trustworthy travel assistant. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 29 frequent users of AI in travel, employing qualitative exploratory design. Thematic analysis identified significant hurdles, including poor awareness of GenAI capabilities, lack of emotional involvement and trust, insufficient personalization, challenges in managing complex plans, and unavailability of sensory feedback. Although GenAI offers real benefits, addressing these issues is vital to satisfying user expectations. These findings provide a path to the development of successful AI travel solutions compatible with user needs.
