This chapter is written based on personal observations during our visit to the region following the earthquakes in Pazarcık, Elbistan, and Yayladağı, Türkiye on February 6, 2023, rather than serving as a research paper or commentary. Numerous photographs taken indicate that many cultural assets in the earthquake-affected area, covering 11 provinces, have either disappeared or suffered significant damage. Entry to the region has been restricted for security reasons after the earthquake. Due to these restrictions and various other reasons, this text does not cover the condition of all cultural assets in the 11 provinces affected by the earthquake. The information presented here about some of the cultural assets in the area where the February 6, 2023 earthquake occurred demonstrates the extent of the losses in our cultural heritage. In this study, information is provided about the history of earthquakes in the earthquake region in question. Subsequently, some examples of immovable cultural property that were destroyed or damaged in the February 6, 2023 earthquake are given. The study concludes with a final remarks section containing our comments on the preservation of cultural property against disaster risks and the responsibility of Government and public institutions. The photographs we include in our work reflect the condition of a limited number of cultural assets accessible immediately after the earthquake and in extraordinary circumstances. Otherwise, the cultural assets damaged or completely lost due to the earthquake are not limited to those depicted in the photographs.

摘要
