Fostering Youth’s Psychological Resilience Through Philosophizing
摘要
At first consideration, one may wonder about the relationship between resilience and philosophizing. The concept of philosophizing is often misunderstood. It is important to note that philosophizing does not equate to merely being aware of the views held by various philosophical schools. Fundamentally, the essence of philosophizing resides in the ability to accurate thinking, rather than simply adopting ideas that are deemed correct by a majority or by certain individuals. While individuals possess a certain level of inherent resilience attributed to their genetic composition, this capacity can also be regarded as a skill that is subject to development and enhancement. Numerous experts have proposed various strategies for cultivating resilience skills, and the efficacy of these methods has been explored in a range of studies. Nonetheless, the enhancement of resilience is fundamentally linked to cognitive processes and thought patterns. It follows that if cognitive abilities are refined through philosophical inquiry, one can anticipate a corresponding improvement in resilience skills. In this chapter, we will examine the concepts of resilience and philosophizing and discuss our justification for the relationship between these two components.
