Natural rubber is obtained by coagulation of the latex from the Hevea Brasiliensis tree. It consists predominantly of cis-1,4-polyisoprene. Fossilised natural rubber discovered in Germany in 1924 stems from about 50 million years ago (Törnqvist 1968).
