This chapter introduces the foundational purpose of the book: to center the lived experiences of Black women K–12 leaders and propose a new, merged approach that integrates intersectionality with continuous improvement. The chapter investigates how leadership experiences are shaped by intersecting systems of oppression, including race, gender, and colonialism, using empathy interviews.
