Guerrilla Girls: The Forgotten
摘要
This chapter explores the situation of guerrilla girls in Colombia that are part of the FARC—Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia and argues that these girls are not sufficiently considered in national and international law, precisely as concerns sexual violence. Through a legal semiotic examination of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and the CEDAW Committee general recommendations, and subsequently through an account of Colombian legislation and case law, this chapter analyzes if and/or how guerrilla girls are protected under the law. Then, the de facto situation of girls within the FARC is examined. Finally, this chapter sets out recommendations to improve the protection of girls’ rights in this problematic environment.
