The argument in this book can be looked at from three temporal angles, namely, the past, the present and the future or the historical, the contemporary and the unknown. Admittedly, we cannot completely comprehend why both intra-African migration and Africa-Europe migration are problematic without a prior comprehension of the historical contexts of the migrations. But in a book such as this one, it is impossible to cover the entire history of intra-African migration or Africa-Europe migration, not to even talk of covering the entire history of both the former and the latter. However, this is not a barrier to achieving my aims in this book because the temporal period of my focus is the present and future rather than the past. In view of both the aforementioned impossibility and my focus, a summary of the historical contexts of intra-African and Africa-Europe migrations is sufficient to give us the necessary comprehension of the aforementioned historical contexts.
