Carbon Neutrality and Environmental Sustainability: Barriers and Future Directions
摘要
The impact of climate change is receiving increasing global attention. Forests play a crucial role in achieving carbon neutrality by sequestering atmospheric carbon dioxide and storing it in biomass and soil. Consequently, afforestation, reforestation, and natural regeneration have become essential components of global climate change mitigation strategies. This chapter highlights the vital role of forests as global carbon sinks, contributing significantly to environmental sustainability. It also identifies key barriers that may hinder the achievement of carbon neutrality through forests, including ecological, technical, institutional, and socio-economic challenges. To address these obstacles, the chapter explores future directions that emphasize innovative forest management practices, technological advancements, and participatory approaches that foster both international and local collaboration. Overall, this chapter advocates for a multidisciplinary approach to achieving carbon neutrality through forestry, paving the way for a more resilient and sustainable future.
