Management of Medical Technology Availability: Maintenance Strategies for Medium-Complexity Imaging Equipment
摘要
This paper presents a preventive maintenance plan for diagnostic imaging equipment within the Public Health System of Tucumán (SI.PRO.SA), focusing on fixed radiographic units, mobile radiographic units, and mammographic units, under the management of the Electromedicine Department (DE). Based on semi-structured interviews, documentation review, and historical data analysis (November 2023–April 2025), the technological inventory was characterized, recurring failures were identified, and available technical resources were assessed. Prioritization was guided by equipment criticality, risk level, failure frequency, and technical requirements, following WHO guidelines. The analysis correlated failure types with the use of consumables and technical services, highlighting critical components and key logistical aspects. Standardized technical instructions were developed for each equipment type, and a context-aware preventive maintenance schedule was designed, considering operational, geographic, and healthcare-related factors. The resulting model provides a practical, flexible, and scalable tool applicable to other provincial or regional settings, aiming to improve maintenance efficiency and ensure continuous availability of essential diagnostic imaging equipment.
