This paper explores the application of three-dimensional digital and computational methods on Minoan and Mycenaean seals and sealings. A selected assemblage of 98 modern impressions from the Corpus of Minoan and Mycenaean Seals, along with 27 original seals and sealings from Greek archaeological museums, have been scanned using a structured-light scanner. The diverse materials within the selected assemblage, including clay sealings, steatite, agate, jasper and carnelian seals, modern silicon and plasticine impressions and casts, significantly influenced the scanning and post-processing procedures, and consequently impacted the quality of the digital models. This study highlights the observed differences arising from the application of digital methods across various materials. It also delves into the prospects and limitations of applying digital documentation methods to micrographic objects. Furthermore, the potential of this methodology for cultural heritage management is discussed, with the aim of enhancing accessibility to museum collections and archives.
