A Systematic Study on the Applications of Virtual and Augmented Reality in Art Education
摘要
Disruptive technologies like Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) have transformed the landscape of artistic engagement and Art education for students. Nowadays, a broad spectrum of digital tools and platforms that enrich the teaching and learning process in Visual Arts is available and accessible. The utilization of AR/VR technologies empowers students to explore, experiment, and collaborate in unprecedented ways. Although most interdisciplinary studies on AR/VR and Art focus on artistic content exploration, like virtual museums, very few is known on the use of projection technologies by art creators, teachers and students. This paper presents the results of a systematic review that explores the use of AR/VR in Art creation and education. The results have shown that AR/VR approaches foster explorative learning, experimentation with diverse digital media, and provide Art students, teachers and professional artists the opportunity to express their artistic vision in 3D environments.
