Introduction to Human-Smart City Interactions and User-Citizen Experiences
摘要
Smart cities offer a transformative vision for urban living by integrating digital technologies, data analytics, and artificial intelligence to improve quality of life. Through the widespread use of information and communication technologies, smart cities can optimize operations, reduce costs, and enhance citizen experiences. These systems gather and analyze real-time data from sensors, citizens, and city infrastructure to inform services such as transportation, healthcare, energy, policing, and waste management. Despite progress, many smart city technologies remain underutilized. This limited uptake is often not due to technical inadequacies, but rather to insufficient integration of technological solutions with human factors, ethical and legal considerations, system-level coordination, domain-specific requirements, and the unique challenges associated with artificial intelligence. This book explores “human-smart city interaction”—the ways individuals engage with and are shaped by smart technologies—and human factors to be considered in enhancing “citizen experience”. As cities grow smarter, understanding these interactions is key to building more adaptive, efficient, and livable urban environments. Targeted towards academics, researchers, practitioners, and students in Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Policy Making, and Governance, this work is also accessible to individuals from other disciplines interested in the cutting-edge developments in Smart City technologies. An extensive list of bibliographic references at the end of each chapter guides the readers to probe deeper into the application areas of interest to them.
