Supporting Recovery and Community Integration of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Adults with Serious Mental Illness
摘要
This chapter aims to provide an overview of the complexities involved in delivering community treatment and services to support recovery for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) adults with serious mental illness (SMI). This chapter includes four subsections related to DHH adults with SMI: understanding serious mental illness; rehabilitation and recovery models; challenges in managing serious mental illness; and supporting recovery and community integration. A case example is provided to identify the complexities and challenges experienced by DHH adults with serious mental illness, as well as the opportunities when incorporating a rehabilitation and recovery model with this population.
