A Buddhist Career Path Beyond the Expected: Erwin Glatter’s Career
摘要
This chapter takes you through the inspiring and somewhat unconventional career journey of Erwin Glatter, who immerses himself in the monastic life of meditation, being a Lama—a Tibetan term for a Buddhist teacher—in the heart of France. Having researched Buddhist and Management Ethics during his studies at university, Erwin quite unexpectedly joined a Buddhist monastery himself and stayed there for 16 years. In response to inner turmoil, he left the monastery around 10 years ago and eventually returned to Austria, where he took a more secular career path. Erwin then completed a master’s degree in health sciences and became a certified coach. Despite leaving the monastic life, his main aim is to continuously integrate the experiences and insights he acquired as a Lama into his current work as a mindfulness trainer, resilience coach, and stress management expert. Erwin’s entire journey is marked by a profound inner drive to seek answers to life’s essential questions, fostering personal growth and courage, making heartfelt decisions, and being guided by Buddhist spiritual wisdom.
