Rehabilitation in Temporomandibular Joint Disorders
摘要
The complicated structure known as the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) makes it easier to perform the precise movements needed for speaking, chewing, and making facial expressions. It forms a crucial part of the craniofacial system by joining the mandible and the skull. Even though the TMJ is meant to work without any problems, there are a variety of conditions that can impact it. These conditions are referred to as temporomandibular disorders (TMD), and they pose a complex challenge to the fields of dentistry, medicine, and general patient care. A variety of disorders involving discomfort, dysfunction, and anomalies in the musculature around the TMJ and joint are together referred to as TMD. These conditions can affect a person’s overall physiological and psychological well-being in addition to their localized manifestations within the orofacial region. From the mild discomfort of a clicking jaw to the crippling pain of long-term TMD, these conditions place a heavy burden on those who suffer from them, affecting their daily activities, emotional stability, and quality of life.
