In this chapter, we describe the bidirectional relationship between psychiatric disorders and somatic disorders. Various fields of veterinary medicine and their close ties with veterinary psychiatry are discussed: pain management, dermatology, neurology, nutrition, internal medicine, reproduction, surgery, and geriatrics. For each category, we detail the possible behavioral consequences of these organic diseases on the animal’s psychological state, as well as the impact of psychiatric disorders in these medical fields.
