In this chapter, we describe the psychiatric disorders associated with pathological aging. As with dogs, there are likely four forms of age-related cerebral decline: cognitive dysregulation in elderly cats, emotional dysregulation, mood dysregulation, and, finally, dysregulation of self-control. However, in cats, the clinical presentation is more subtle, and distinguishing between these different forms often proves challenging. We begin by describing the commonalities among all these disorders, particularly their progression toward a generalized deterioration of all behavioral axes. In the second part, we attempt to provide clinical insights into approaching the aging process through the lens of these various mechanisms.

摘要
