Sierras de la Paramera y la Serrota
摘要
This chapter presents the physical and human study of Sierras de la Paramera y la Serrota mountain ranges, as well as the inventory of their geomorphosites. The Paramera and Serrota mountain ranges are located southwest of the city of Ávila, within the western sector of the Sistema Central. They constitute a mountain range developed in an east–west direction, with elevations exceeding 2000 m, highlighting the Zapatero Peak in the Paramera, at 2158 m, and reaching 2294 m in the Serrota. The Paramera and Serrota mountain ranges are the elevated horsts that stand out between the Amblés Valley to the north and the Alberche River to the south. In La Paramera and La Serrota, we find granite, glacial, and fluvial landforms that, although unknown, are outstanding, and whose most spectacular geomorphosites are explained in this chapter. From a human perspective, the sociodemographic study of the area is presented, characterized by the abandonment of traditional activities and depopulation, but with a cultural heritage closely linked to the territory, the Sierra, and still alive among the local inhabitants. The 12 inventoried geomorphosites in the Sierras de la Paramera and la Serrota reflect their fractured and elevated morphostructure and their granite and glacial landforms.
