This article both offers an overview of the Association for Women in Mathematics’ Notable Women in Mathematics (EvenQuads) project and details how the creation, structure, and applications of the playing cards found in an EvenQuads deck are used to highlight women’s contributions to mathematics across time. With a particular focus on the historical women of mathematics, the paper focuses on how the challenges encountered when writing the biographical profiles of these women allows students of all ages to increase their engagement with the issues and patterns seen in the rich history of women in STEM. The use of these materials in a variety of classroom and outreach activities will be explicitly addressed.
