Agile Deployment of Information and Communication Technology in Higher Education During COVID-19: An Action Research Approach
摘要
The rapid acceleration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) adoption across personal, social, and business environments, driven by COVID-19, demonstrated an unprecedented level of agility, reaching a tipping point within weeks rather than the previously anticipated 30 years. This research investigates the agile integration of ICT in the effective delivery of academic Learning in Higher Education (HE) during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research employed a participatory, reflective, and thematic action research approach to gain deeper insights from academic lecturers and students in higher education settings. The findings indicate that Microsoft Teams was widely adopted and recognized as an effective, agile alternative to face-to-face learning across the UK higher education sector. Moreover, the results highlight the significance of ICT (21%), effective communication (20%), convenience (17%), and powerful ICT tools (15%), while time management (2.5%) was the least significant factor during the pandemic crisis. The empirical research concludes that the megatrend (57 references and 25%, respectively) has played a substantial role in the agile and effective delivery of academic Learning within UK universities.
