“We have before us the glorious opportunity to inject a new dimension of love into the veins of our civilization.” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We stand in a moment in history where we find ourselves in a fierce battle between democracy and authoritarianism. Misinformation and disinformation are considered normative methods of distributing information, and the efficacy of institutions is being challenged. This is the sociopolitical landscape younger generations of social activists are navigating. Young activists, while drawing on the lessons of past movements, employ different ways of being and thinking about social change and are devising strategies informed by relational leadership, self-reflection, and racial healing. This essay examines the coalition work of Black-led intergenerational organizations and activists focused on creating change in their community. The ABC coalition is in the United States in a city called Aurora. This essay describes the tactics and strategies to develop a healthy intergenerational coalition.
