The psychosocial burden associated with vitiligo may significantly impair the quality of life of individuals affected. Persons with vitiligo may have highly visible disease and living with their condition may negatively impact their personal and professional relationships. Vitiligo is also associated with psychiatric comorbidities, including depression and anxiety. Adjuvant therapies targeting the psychosocial component of vitiligo are an important aspect of disease management. These can include psychiatrists, psychologists, and support groups. Vitiligo support groups are unique in the ways in which they can provide education and support for those living with the condition as well as connecting to others living with vitiligo. This chapter discusses the role and benefits of vitiligo support groups and provides brief guidelines on how to start a vitiligo support group.
