Influence of Hot and Cold Visuals in VR on Human Perceived Temperature
摘要
The purpose of this study was to clarify the effect of visual information in a virtual reality (VR) space on human perceived temperature. In the experiment, participants were asked to stay in two types of VR spaces, one simulating a cold environment and the other simulating a hot environment, for five minutes each, and then subjectively and objectively evaluated the change in perceived temperature. The perceived temperature questionnaire and the IPQ (i.e., the “realism quiz”) were used for the subjective evaluation, and palm skin temperature was measured with a thermal imaging camera for the objective evaluation. As a result, changes were confirmed along with subjective evaluation and skin temperature, indicating that visual information can affect perceived temperature. The results of the IPQ questionnaire also indicate a possibility that differences in spatial “reality” affect physiological responses.
