Estimating the Efficiency of Electricity Generation Using FAME Bioliquid Produced from Post-frying Vegetable Oils Obtained from the Kiev Area

This research evaluates the potential of using FAME biofuels, derived from post-frying vegetable oils, as an alternative to diesel in power generators. Utilizing the GW-250 reactor, locally produced biofuels in Kyiv could generate 1.52 GWh of electricity weekly, reducing CO2 emissions by 42.7 thousand tons annually. The study analyzed physicochemical properties of FAME from frying oils and compared them to diesel. Additionally, the economic benefits of avoided emission certificates within the EU Emissions Trading System were considered. Findings emphasize the feasibility of converting waste oils into sustainable biofuels for electricity generation with significant environmental advantages.
