Automated Planning for Blockchain Systems: A Systematic Review of Trends and Research Challenges
摘要
The integration of Automated Planning and Blockchain has emerged as a promising area of research, enabling the development of intelligent, decentralized systems capable of autonomous decision-making and resource automatization, as blockchain provides a secure and transparent framework for decentralized applications. In this paper, we present a systematic review on the intersection between these two fields, aiming to identify current trends and research challenges. In the methodology based in PRISMA and Tree of Science, we analyzed over 3402 publications from 2003 to 2025 retrieved from major databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, ArXiv and IEEE. Our review focuses on three key aspects: first the applications of automated planning for blockchain systems, including smart contracts and supply chain management in 116 papers results. Second the technical challenges of integrating automated planning techniques into blockchain, such as scalability, computational complexity, and consensus mechanisms. Third challenges research directions. The results show the development in smart system, automated planning and hybrid AI-blockchain frameworks in healthcare. The findings highlight growing interest in this interdisciplinary field, with notable publication concentrations in high-impact journals and significant scientific output from countries like China, the US, and the UK. This review provides a comprehensive foundation for researchers interested in using automated planning to improve the blockchain-based systems.
