Overview of Self-sovereign Identity for Multi-cloud Services Management and Privacy
摘要
The rapid expansion of multi-cloud environments has introduced significant challenges, particularly in security and privacy. Traditional identity management models typically rely on centralized or semi-centralized architectures, which limit user control over personal data and expose systems to various security vulnerabilities. Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) is an emerging decentralized identity management paradigm that empowers users to manage and control their digital identities independently, without depending on centralized authorities or third-party intermediaries. Integrating SSI into multi-cloud environments offers substantial benefits, including enhanced security, privacy, and trust in identity verification and authentication processes through the use of decentralized identifiers (DIDs) and verifiable credentials (VCs). This paper presents a background on the principles of SSI and highlights its advantages over traditional identity models, including both centralized and federated approaches. We also review some SSI-based solutions on multi-cloud infrastructures, analyzing their strengths and limitations. In addition, we identify key challenges facing SSI-based identity management systems, such as interoperability, scalability, and performance constraints.
